Thanks to quick and efficient exchange of business documents, the EDI solution helped Stelweld optimize the service of Volvo and Scania customers.
Hicron Consulting experts not only implemented the EDI solution, but also modeled the entire process of document flow between Stelweld and its customers. Additionally, the consultants designed the concept of scheduling agreements, i.e. documents which collect internal and external information confirming the orders of Stelweld customers. Scheduling agreements form the basis for optimized production planning within different time horizons and provide information for the purpose of purchase planning and sending shipments. During the processing, orders are automatically converted into delivery documents and, in the following stage, into invoices.

Thanks to the implemented EDI solution, the orders received by Stelweld from its customers are executed much faster, mainly as a result of elimination of manual creation and entry of the documents in the system. Now, order processing has been fully automated. A few clicks in the Volvo or Scania systems are enough to select the quantity, material kind and expected delivery time and to generate the order and send it in an electronic format to the Stelweld Sales Department. There, the order is promptly confirmed, production activities are planned and shipments are executed. Finally, an invoice is generated. No time is wasted on mailing, receipt or handling of paper documents. Additionally, full automation of the process minimizes the risk of errors which are likely during manual entry of the documents in the system.

The majority of companies implementing EDI solutions stop at the stage of order processing. Stelweld went a step further, incorporating invoicing in EDI and integrating the solution with the production department. As a result, the information about a new order reaches the production department in no time, when the order is placed, which greatly facilitates the planning of production requirements.
