SAP audit improves performance of Teleskop

The audit of Teleskop’s SAP system conducted by HICRON experts helped to plan the appropriate direction of its development.

A year and a half after the completion of the SAP system implementation, the Management Board of Teleskop decided to review the business goals of the system implementation project.

The main task of Teleskop and HICRON Consulting was to remodel the business processes and the SAP processes in such a way, as to ensure integration of the production planning with the activities in the sales and procurement area and to streamline the user roles. The consultants from HICRON Consulting showed the employees of Teleskop how to use the MRP mechanisms to fully control the processes at the interface between purchasing, production and sales and how to maximize the potential of the infrastructure, avoid wasting resources and be able to define the delivery dates of raw materials with maximum preciseness. After the implementation of changes, the company resigned from using plans and reports created manually, outside the system. As a result, the company began to operate in an integrated way, based on up-to-date, reliable data. The work of the users has become easier and the production and purchase planning has been quicker and more accurate.

The development work which followed the system audit was completed in June 2009. During the SAP audit, the consultants from HICRON Consulting built a complete picture of Teleskop operations . The analysis showed that Teleskop could make a much better use of the potential offered by the SAP system. To this end ,some of the company’s business processes were remodeled, including the processes executed in the production planning area, and a workshop for the system users was organized. During the project in Teleskop, a lot of emphasis was placed on the transfer of business knowledge and optimization of MRP processes.

Another equally important element of HICRON Consulting’s work for Teleskop was the dedicated workshop, the scope of which was defined on the basis of the audit findings. ”The firefighting approach resulting from insufficient knowledge of the system doesn’t make sense if we know that we can prevent the fire or nip it in the bud. This is what we did deciding for the dedicated workshop. We learned hot to deal with many non-standard situations. In the past, we often had to consult external experts while resolving everyday issues. Now we are 100% self-sufficient. Thanks to the injection of knowledge received from HICRON Consulting we can easily handle everyday challenges ", Leon Mulder, Teleskop Board President comments on the workshop. “Cost savings are one thing, but the most important benefit from the workshop is the opportunity to put the immense potential of SAP to full use”, adds Mulder.

The workshop in Teleskop was not meant to be delivered in a standard way. While preparing the workshop, HICRON Consulting experts used the actual systems, processes and data of Teleskop. Another big advantage of the workshop was that the involved consultants acquired their experience as the key system users. Such experience, combined with extensive theoretical knowledge, helped them gain a deep insight in the working environment of Teleskop’s SAP system. The consultants not only clarified the uncertainties concerning the operation of the system, but also shared their experience in the business process optimization.
