SAP rollout and implementation of modules supporting production planning

Challenge

Designing an SAP architecture taking into account the needs of the group and the specific requirements of the automotive industry

Modernizing an ERP system is a major undertaking and requires a high level of commitment from both the project partner and the users themselves. The decision-makers at one of our Clients decided to take advantage of this opportunity and extend the implementation beyond the group’s existing standards to include additional elements.

From planning to execution

Migrating a system from legacy solutions to SAP can be done in a short time and was only a part of the overall work. The real challenge was to adapt business processes to the standard of the entire group and to implement from scratch modules to support production and manage its costs.

The project relied on Hicron’s expertise from start to finish. From the concept proposal to final implementation and post-implementation support.

The most interesting element of the whole project was undoubtedly the planning of business processes and the mapping of internal flows in a company that launches groundbreaking technologies in the automotive industry.

Production planning, cost and team management require appropriate tools. Tools that help keep up with the pace of the company’s development. The innovative approach to their business led the decision-makers to implement SAP modules that would enable effective management of production line costs.

A large area of research and development in the production process and the related variables significantly influenced the final shape of the module.

Challenges arise in every project, what is important is how the implementing partner deals with them – says Alicja Ryter, Project Manager at Hicron – We assembled a team of experts whose professional knowledge and experience in the automotive sector enabled us to implement the project on time, despite its complexity.

The creation of a business concept was the basis for further work and allowed us to describe what the company’s processes should look like in the future.

Costs under control

In addition to the rollout of the production cost control standard, another important element was the implementation of the SAP PP module from scratch. Once again, our previous work in the automotive industry proved important, as we were able to adapt the product to the client’s expectations and configure it according to best practices.

For an organization, efficient production planning means, among other things:

  • Better performance
  • Improved inventory management
  • Ability to verify profitability
  • Demand forecasting
  • Implementation of modern just-in-time methodologies
  • Collecting data for analysis

The entire project culminated in user training and close support during the first days of implementation.

Modules that were ultimately used:

  • SAP FI
  • SAP MM
  • SAP SD
  • SAP PS
  • SAP CS
  • SAP CO
  • SAP PP
