Initial situation

The AMAG Group operates in a dynamic environment with high demands for stability, integration, and end-to-end process consistency as one of Switzerland’s leading automotive and mobility companies.

As part of the S/4HANA transformation at AMAG Import AG, the challenge was to migrate and further develop a mature SAP landscape, support core automotive processes, and ensure seamless integration across multiple interconnected systems.

Solution

Together with Hicron, AMAG Import further developed and integrated its SAP landscape as part of its S/4HANA transformation.
Key focus areas included:

  • Implementation and integration of SAP IS-Auto (including VMS)
  • Developments and enhancements on the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP)
  • Integration of SAP with existing third-party systems
  • Support during go-live and hypercare to ensure operational stability
  • Establishment and ongoing delivery of application management services, including incident and change management

The objective was to create a stable, integrated, and scalable SAP environment capable of supporting continuous business and technology evolution.

Project Journey

  • Preparation and execution of the S/4HANA transformation
  • Implementation and integration of core systems and business processes
  • Migration of master and transactional data using proprietary migration tools
  • Go-live support and hypercare to ensure operational stability
  • Transition to application management services and continuous SAP landscape enhancement
At AMAG, this was not about a standalone project. It was about keeping a business-critical SAP landscape running seamlessly throughout the transformation, go-live, and day-to-day operations. Together with the customer, we ensured exactly that continuity and operational stability.

Results

  • Stable operation of a business-critical SAP landscape
  • Successful integration of key automotive processes, including SAP IS-Auto and logistics modules
  • Expansion and enhancement of the SAP landscape on SAP BTP, including dedicated applications for object disposition and configuration
  • Continuous support and optimization during ongoing operations

This provides AMAG with a solid foundation for stable operations, continuous innovation, and the ongoing evolution of its business-critical automotive processes.

For us, it was crucial to have a partner in Hicron who could reliably support both the transformation and ongoing operations. It became particularly clear in the interplay of implementation, integration and stabilization that the team brought experience from comparable logistics and automotive environments – this was highly visible in day-to-day project operations.

Six success factors

  1. Experience with S/4HANA transformations in business-critical environments
  2. Deep understanding of logistics and automotive processes
  3. Proven ability to integrate complex system landscapes
  4. Extensive experience in migrating master and transactional data
  5. Seamless alignment of implementation, go-live, and operations
  6. Continuous development and support beyond the initial project
From the perspective of the business project management team within AMAG’s S/4HANA transformation program, what stood out most in our collaboration with Hicron was the team’s ability to truly understand the underlying process logic and translate it into practical solutions. At no point did it feel like tasks were simply being worked through. Topics were addressed thoroughly, prioritized sensibly, and implemented consistently. And the work did not stop after go-live: stabilization and the transition into operations were an integral part of the overall concept from day one.
