Joule for Consultants. Does an SAP consultant really need another AI tool?

Joule for Consultants. Does an SAP consultant really need another AI tool?
AI in SAP services is not just a tool for beginners. Hicron consultants share their views on the tool and explain why seasoned SAP professionals often gain the most from Joule for Consultants and how it helps them work faster and more effectively. See which features our consultants discovered during testing.

In the world of SAP services, the pressure to work faster is constantly increasing. Clients expect shorter response times, faster incident resolution, and greater service efficiency. At the same time, consultants need to keep up with changes in products, documentation, and best practices.

There is a common view among SAP professionals that AI tools are primarily a form of support for junior consultants. However, Hicron consultants’ experience with Joule for Consultants (J4C) suggests otherwise. Experienced specialists often benefit the most because they know how to use AI to complement their own knowledge and experience.

The problem is not a lack of knowledge

Beata Janik (SAP Expert Consultant at Hicron): “In most cases, SAP consultants know where to look for information. The real challenge is time. When an unusual error occurs, you need to review documentation, SAP Notes, expert blogs, and experience from similar projects. Gathering the information itself often takes longer than actually solving the problem. This is where J4C demonstrates its value. During our internal testing of the tool, we observed shorter completion times for selected tasks. The greatest benefits emerged in more complex tasks involving troubleshooting and problem diagnosis.”

How is Joule for Consultants used in practice?

After several months of using the tool, Hicron consultants found that it works best in three areas.

1. Error analysis and diagnostics

Beata Janik: “This is the scenario in which the return on investment in AI is usually easiest to see. Instead of starting the analysis by manually searching through documentation, you can describe the problem in J4C and ask for possible causes and diagnostic directions.”

This does not mean that the tool will immediately provide a ready-made solution. However, it often points to the areas worth checking first. This makes it possible to develop an action plan faster and reduce the number of unsuccessful attempts.

2. Readiness Check and project preparation

Beata Janik: “The second area is support for conceptual work. When assessing a system’s readiness for migration or the implementation of new functionality, J4C helps gather information about dependencies, risks, and potential limitations. The tool does not replace an architect, but it helps prepare a list of issues requiring further verification more quickly. Additional materials, such as SAP Notes, are available through links. Using single sign-on also saves time when navigating between different SAP product knowledge sources that require authentication.”

3. Skills development and certifications – Krzysztof Zarębski (Service Delivery Executive at Hicron)

Krzysztof Zarębski: “From an organizational and team management perspective, developing skills and preparing employees for certification exams are equally important. J4C brings an entirely new dimension to this area. Instead of passively reading documentation in the traditional way, consultants can have an interactive conversation with AI. They can ask for specific examples, compare different SAP solutions, or receive links to up-to-date materials provided directly by the vendor. This is a much more engaging and effective way to learn.”

What sets J4C apart?

Beata Janik: “What surprised me most was the quality of the answers provided by the tool. During testing, the responses were generally complete and technically accurate, while occasional errors were minor and most often resulted from outdated source material. What is more, J4C very often goes beyond the specific question asked. At first, I saw this as a drawback. Over time, however, I noticed that with more complex problems, the additional context often leads to a solution I had not initially considered.”

It is also important to understand the tool’s limitations

Krzysztof Zarębski: “To make full use of the tool’s potential, however, you need to understand the limits of the technology. At present [September 2026 – author’s note], J4C does not have direct access to client data or to the specific configuration of a given SAP system. It will not answer a question about data stored in a production system, but it can tell you precisely where and how to verify that data. We therefore treat J4C as an intelligent analytical partner rather than an infallible assistant to the consultant.”

Our assessment

After several months of working with Joule for Consultants, we do not see the tool as “just another chatbot.” It is better described as a digital partner that supports consultants in their day-to-day work.

Can it replace an SAP expert? No.

Can it help an expert work faster and more effectively? Definitely.

At Hicron, we believe that service quality is directly linked to consultant efficiency. If a consultant can identify the cause of a problem faster, prepare recommendations more effectively, and transfer knowledge more efficiently, the client ultimately receives better service. This is why we invest both in developing SAP Business AI skills and in the practical use of Joule-based solutions.

For organizations using Hicron AMS services, this means one thing: when used appropriately, artificial intelligence can help deliver better service.
