Public or private
The SAP public cloud operates in the Software as a Service (SaaS) model. This means that the service is handled entirely by data centers, and users only connect to the server from their computers. All data and software is stored there, and all analyses and calculations are performed there. Most importantly, it leverages existing infrastructure. This allows for significant cost reduction and great flexibility. The Client only pays for the resources actually used and does not have to worry about maintenance and depreciation.
Private cloud users receive their exclusive space. This means that no one else has access to the infrastructure on which the data is stored. This means greater speed, security, and data storage capabilities. It is also possible to modify the infrastructure, but it is up to the user to pay for its maintenance.
What is SAP Digital Discovery Assessment tool?
How to choose between public and private cloud? The process is based on Digital Discovery Assessment (DDA), which proposes a version tailored to the organization’s needs and capabilities.
DDA (Digital Discovery Assessment) is a tool provided by SAP that allows you to adjust your scope and focus on financial capabilities, infrastructure needs, and level of flexibility.
According to the SAP Activate methodology, the assessment takes place at the first stage of the process – Discover. This is the moment when Clients learn about the possibilities offered by SAP, and the implementation partner becomes familiar with the organization, its processes, dependencies, and how they can be reflected in the new system.
The process up close
Once the solutions to be assessed have been selected, decision-makers must decide which area of the business to focus on. Four options are available: Baseline, Finance Led ERP, Service Centric ERP, Product Centric ERP.
SAP’s global experience has allowed it to capture best business practices and translate them into universal processes that help companies in nearly every industry achieve digital transformation. Based on the information entered, DDA proposes schemes that best fit the environment in which the company operates. It takes into account not only industry-specific challenges, but also regulatory requirements in more than 40 countries. The third step allows the review of the opportunities available in your region.
In the fourth step, from 16 line of business schemes they select those that they believe best reflect the organization’s characteristics. There they can take a closer look at the solutions that will be included in the final project, best practices, and manually set priorities as needed.
After going through all the steps, there may be areas that require some development. With DDA, these can be addressed early in the project to ensure a smooth implementation.
